Looking for decorative ways to upgrade your home generally means looking at paintings, window treatments, or other forms of home decor artwork. One decorative upgrade you may not think of is the use of stained glass. Here are a few of the ways you can use stained glass to upgrade the look of the interior and exterior of your home.

Kitchen Windows

Many homeowners have a window above their kitchen sink area. The windows generally receive a simple window treatment to help update their look. One way you can update the look of the kitchen window area and add more light to the area is to add a stained glass window. The window can be put in place by a window installation professional. With the right design and stained glass colour, you can add an impressive upgrade to the kitchen and give an accent piece as well.

Shower Door

Shower doors usually don't receive many upgrades. In fact, using a frameless shower screen or adding a texture to the shower screen is the limit that many people see with an upgrade. You can use stained glass to help upgrade the glass shower screens in your home. The first option is to simply have a stained glass door installed as your shower door. You can also use supplies to create a leaded light look on your current shower screens to upgrade the look of the area. Keep in mind, the glass can add privacy as well as beauty to the room.

Wall Art

If you have an antique store near you that carries stained glass or a way to get unframed options, then you may want to consider using them as wall art. You can add a simple hanging chain or frame to the glass and hang the pieces as artwork throughout the home. You can even hang them on existing windows to add a special touch and light effect to the room that can be seen from the inside of the home or from the outside. This option will also add as a kerb appeal upgrade as well.

If you would like to purchase stained glass, consider looking at antique stores or at home salvage stores. They will have vintage options and encased windows that can be used in a variety of ways throughout the home. If you would like to create your own stained glass designs, consider visiting an art supply store to purchase the leading and other supplies you will need.
